Water Line Connection

Install a hand shut-off valve in an accessible location, such as under the sink. (Optional, but strongly recommended and may be required by local codes.) Water connection is on the left side of the dishwasher.

Route the new supply line through the hole between the sink cabinet and the dishwasher installation location. Temporarily secure the new water supply line to the floor with tape to prevent movement when the new dishwasher is pushed into place. Attach the new water supply line to the shut-off valve.

Place the kick plate on the bottom of the door. Use a tape measure to ensure you have 1-inch on either side and bottom and mark these measurements with a pencil. Line-up the kick plate with these measurements and mark the screw holes to ensure your drill holes will be in the correct position. Attach the kick plate.

On most dishwashers, the water supply inlet valve is located on the bottom of the dishwasher behind a rectangular “toe kick” panel. Use a screwdriver to remove the mounting screws holding the panel in place, then lift the panel up and off the dishwasher.

A clogged water valve is a common cause for a dishwasher getting no water. The water valve opens when it gets electrical current from the control. Openings through the water valve can easily get clogged with deposits or debris so water won't flow through the valve to fill the dishwasher.

At the beginning of a dishwasher cycle, the water inlet valve on the inside of the dishwasher opens to allow water to flow into the bottom tub. It will fill until the overfill protection float detects that the desired water level has been reached and then signals the inlet valve to close.
